Have you ever had moments of self-doubt, insecurity, and gotten completely frozen up?
I know I sure have. It happens more often than I’d like to admit, and all the way through the creative entrepreneur journey. I went to my friend, Sean Stephenson‘s $10K speaking workshop this weekend, and if you don’t know who he is, you need to. He is the Yoda of public speaking, and a world class human being. You can get a picture and discover more of him on my podcast interview with him. Sean’s vision is to rid the world if insecurity, and he is the perfect testament. This is a little trick he taught us this weekend.
Our inner game affects everything we do. If we are feeling insecure, we need to fill our tanks. There are three buckets in our lives we need to fill to cure our insecurity.
This game is called the “When Life Was Working” game. Take a sheet of paper. Write these three categories across the top.
1. HEALTH
2. WEALTH
3. RELATIONSHIPS
These categories are the root core of what makes up our lives. When we are depleted in one or more of them, insecurity creeps in. See, we need to take care of ourselves first. We need to put our own oxygen masks on before we put masks on others.
Take 10 minutes to write under each category specific things at times that you feel or felt fulfilled in each one. They need to be specific, actionable items. You can see mine below as an example. You can borrow some of mine, but this is different for everyone.
Now, the idea is to be doing at least 1/4th of all of these a day to keep our tanks filled. If you’re feeling insecure, chances are you’re not taking care of yourself in these areas. Life gets busy, and it’s easy for it to slide by without us taking care of ourselves.
I am about to keep this in my conscious mind and work on feeling these things myself, but in connecting the dots, this works.
The cure for insecurity is self-care. What’s on your list?

I was born in a low middle class conservative religious family in the suburbs of Seattle. Art was and always has been my passion, and more than that a way of life. Starting as a graphic designer, I taught myself photography, built a commercial/editorial business shooting for the worlds biggest brands like Nike, Coca-Cola, Adidas and more. I've also had the opportunity to photograph the world's biggest celebrities like Justin Bieber, Usher, Jessica Alba and more. I've curated a lifestyle around creativity and have learned a lot along the way which I get to share here.
