“People can’t be held accountable for that which they’re oblivious to.”
– Peter Crone
Welcome back to ONKEN RADIO (previously NION Radio), the podcast where we explore the body, mind, and soul of the creative entrepreneur. It’s my goal to help you take your creativity, business, and life to the next level. I’m so glad you’re joining me on this journey!
For today’s episode, we have with us self-proclaimed Mind Architect — Peter Crone. He helps people find a life of freedom on the other side of their subconscious mind.
How does he do it? By helping his clients step beyond their primitive survival instincts and rewire their brains to believe they are capable of achieving the best things they can imagine for themselves. Through heightening their sense of awareness, his clients shift from accepting their less-than-perfect reality to pursuing a life of vitality from the inside out.
Peter said he believes that actualizing an extraordinary reality begins with awareness:
“People can’t be held accountable for that which they’re oblivious to.”
– Peter Crone
If you’re oblivious to your limiting beliefs or hidden fears, you can’t move past them. In the same way, if you’re oblivious of what a thriving life looks like to you, you can’t take the necessary steps to make it a reality. The more aware you are of how you’re experiencing life and the way you want to be, the more you will be able to create the life of your dreams.
If you’re ready to construct a life of love and freedom, this message is going to be your jam. Let’s get to it.
Peter Crone is a writer, speaker, and thought leader in human potential who works with world-class entertainers, professional athletes, and global organizations. He calls himself, “The Mind Architect.” Honestly, I don’t think there is a better description for him.
Peter explained that when he stepped into the self-help world, he felt that typical titles like “monk,” “spiritual teacher,” and “happiness guru” all came with the expectation that you walked around in robes and feathers while rubbing coconut oil on people. While Peter isn’t against any of that, he wanted to create a title that embodied an everyday person who had elevated their mind to a state of freedom, peace, and love. He explained his perspective like this:
“My assertion is that every human being just by design … [has] these codes — this programming — of inadequacy, insecurity, and scarcity that drives all of these behavioral adaptations and the suffering that we see in the world. I help people discover a world of total freedom and love on the other side of those.”
– Peter Crone
All that to say, Peter does some legit and exciting work. He has received shout outs from multiple athletes and celebrities for the breakthroughs he has helped them achieve. If you want to rewire your brain for freedom and joy, Peter is the one to learn from.
Today we’re discussing the role time plays in rewiring your mental construct, what it means to thrive, and why you need to be aware of your physical and mental state if you truly want to prosper. This is a conversation you don’t want to miss.
When it comes to rewiring our brains, a lot of this stuff is very subconscious. On top of that, the thoughts we think are almost always subconsciously wired or programmed into our minds. Because of this, it takes a lot of work to uncover this subconscious programming.
Once you have brought subconscious thoughts — limiting beliefs, childhood wounds, deep-rooted fears — to a conscious level, you can start taking action to rewire them. However, if you’ve ever taken a stab at this kind of work, you’ve probably noticed that it’s more challenging than just changing a surface habit.
This is where Peter said that compassion and time play a key role in aligning your mind with freedom and joy.
“[Compassion] eradicates a whole world of judgment that a lot of people have and brings in a lot more patience and compassion, both for ourselves and others. People are doing the best they can within the limits of their own awareness. And once you start to see what those limits are, then you access a whole lot more power and freedom for yourself.”
– Peter Crone
If you really want to set yourself free, choose to navigate the world with compassion toward yourself and others. The essence of compassion is comfort. Creating an environment of comfort for yourself will give you space to be aware of where you’re staying stuck and not dreaming big enough. This environment of comfort will also empower you to create a safe space for others to explore and unlock their own truths.
Once you’ve created this space of comfort through compassion and allowed your awareness to increase, it’s time to take action. You’re going to need to keep compassion close to yourself as you shift the way you think and re-architect your mind. Why? Because Peter said this process takes time:
“Predominantly, [rewiring your brain takes] time. Meaning, … you’ve got to have an awareness of whatever your deep-seated thoughts are that you’ve previously been oblivious to. And then [you have to] practice this new method of thinking, feeling, and behaving. This is how we learned as kids, right? Repetition. Think about [learning] your ABCs and times table. How did you get to know them? You had to constantly read, recite, and repeat.”
– Peter Crone
In my experience, compassion is a valuable companion as you rewire your mind because the process takes time and because the process also tends to be uncomfortable.
Changing your habits and thoughts means you’re doing something new. Even if you know the new behaviors are good and healthy, there are often phases of grief, fear, and panic as you let go of the version of yourself you knew and pick up a better version of yourself.
For my entrepreneurs and Creative Alchemists out there, know that these are common phases and experiences we journey through on our way to creativity and evolution. When things start to go haywire or feel out of control, instead of putting the breaks on, choose to increase your awareness and compassion. You’re doing something new. It’s okay for it to feel uncomfortable. You’re allowed to slow down.
From one creative entrepreneur to another, just don’t give up!
Over the last almost year now, COVID-19 has shifted the world as we know it. During this time, I’ve felt myself leaning toward a survival state more frequently. Anyone else? Peter agreed that this is our natural primitive response to change and uncertainty — survival instincts kick in. But he also said that when we step beyond our survival state and honor the truth of who we are, we begin to thrive.
“If there’s a perceived threat, … it’s natural for me to either run or defend myself. That’s trying to survive. But thriving is to become more associated and identified with the essence of who we are. My essence isn’t Peter Crone, the Mind Architect. … These are all components of my humanity. … My essence is freedom and love. … When I live from that, … that is a thriving lifestyle.”
– Peter Crone
In other words, thriving doesn’t happen when you have the perfect job, partner, and car; it happens the moment you decide to identify with your essence. I love this because it gives you — the Creative Alchemist of your life — the power. When you stop looking for your worth outside of yourself, you become independent of circumstances.
Peter said that someone with a thriving mindset doesn’t look for circumstances to validate their worth because they know their value is inherent.
“All value is inherent. You don’t look at a baby and go, ‘Ah, let’s wait and see how many [Instagram] followers it gets. You know, this baby might not be worth it.’ It’s like, we know that baby is a miracle and everybody does everything to take care of it. And I would say, that’s our true nature. People forget to treat themselves with that same respect and reverence.”
– Peter Crone
Our true nature is bursting with value and, I would add, creativity. You don’t need anything or anyone to give you permission to live freely, boldly, and joyfully. You are as awe-inspiring and worthy of care as you were as an infant. The only difference is, as an adult, you are the one who is responsible for giving that affirmation and care to yourself.
To sum it all up, Peter said, “Thriving is recognizing the value of life and who we are.”
Before you move on to the rest of this post or start your next creative project, I want you to allow your self-awareness to increase and ask yourself this question: “How would I see myself and what would I do if I truly believed I was extraordinarily valuable, regardless of what circumstances or the opinions of others?”
Peter has some breakthrough wisdom to share, and I’m so grateful for the pieces he shared with us today. As you set out to live a thriving life, you should know that being able to identify and override even a mild state of fight-or-flight is a crucial ingredient to your success. Here’s how Peter explained it:
“If you’re in a mild state of fight-or-flight, then digestion and the way that your body breaks down … is compromised because it’s not a priority. … [Your body is] not focused on having good digestion. It sort of becomes a double whammy, right? Because, … one, you’re creating a hormonal imbalance in your body that [is] detrimental over time. And two, your [body is] not using the resources of rejuvenation and nourishment because your digestion isn’t actually working properly.”
– Peter Crone
Your mental and physical state is so integrally connected that being your most creative and successful self depends on you being both mentally and physically healthy. So, as you allow your mental awareness to increase and take action to align with freedom and love, don’t forget to increase your awareness of your body as well.
Most importantly, don’t forget to have compassion for yourself and remember that your value is inherent — no one can undo it or take it away, but you can ignore it. And, ignoring their value is something Creative Alchemists don’t do.
To explain what a Creative Alchemist is, I need to start by defining alchemy. Alchemy is the process of taking something ordinary and turning it into something extraordinary, sometimes in a way that cannot be explained.
With that being said, I define Creative Alchemy as using the process of creativity to create a lens through which to perform alchemy. These principles not only apply to artists and creatives in their own creative processes but to anyone who wants to create an extraordinary life in color for themselves. I’ve found that 80% of creating is alchemizing the thoughts, emotions, and other inner blocks that keep you from putting pen to paper. Navigating to the act of creation takes alchemical processes — taking something ordinary and making it extraordinary. Peter is an exceptional example of a Creative Alchemist, and I was honored to have him on the podcast.
